How we grade.

Methodology

Every brand gets a score from 0 to 100, and that maps to a letter grade. We base scores on stuff we can actually cite, not just a feeling we have about the company.

  • F75–100Heavily MAGA
  • D60–74MAGA-leaning
  • C45–59Mixed / Neutral
  • B30–44Progressive-leaning
  • A0–29Anti-MAGA

Money

40%

This is corporate PAC donations and personal giving by executives or major owners. We care more about which side they lean toward than how much they spent.

Leadership

25%

Public statements, rally appearances, cabinet roles, endorsements. The more control that person still has, the more it counts.

Corporate actions

25%

Real moves with political meaning, like DEI changes, Pride or Black History Month efforts, content moderation calls, and politically charged sponsorships. HRC Corporate Equality Index is a big input here.

Parent / subsidiary

10%

Subsidiaries usually inherit the parent company score, maybe with a small adjustment if they are pretty separate (like brands owned by Amazon).

If we can't find anything meaningful in any of these buckets, we default to a middle C (50). That's not a punishment, it just means we didn't find evidence either way.
